Stop Spying on Me

I haven't put a lot on this blog about political issues. You can probably figure out some of those issues if you have been following the news items that I have shared through Google Reader. The protection of the freedoms granted to us in this country is very important to me. These freedoms are being eroded away, not by the terrorists, but by those who "claim" to have our best interests at heart.

Currently the US government is asking cell phone companies to tap the calls of its users. This is illegal. Now the government wants to cover up this transgression by granting immunity to those telecommunications companies who cooperated with the government. This is wrong. Our elected officials have a responsibility to uphold the laws of our country, not bypass them. The PFAW - The People for the American Way and the EFF - Electronic Frontiers Foundation have created a petition. Please consider signing it.

Please, Sign the Petition.

Be careful, YOU may loose your career because of this kind of thing. Ask Carey how long it took him to find a job after he was photographed just watching something going on at Kent state. Just goes to show that freedom in any counrty is a sometime thing.

Also, where is the line between safety and freedom? With 1/100 of adult Americans behind bars, who's hands do we tie, the police or the criminals? Where is the balance?

'Tis a great video!

Freedom is what we make of it, in large part... and few too many of us make much of it.

While I have always been skeptical about the effectiveness of online petitions, I have signed the petition. I hope that we make a difference on this issue.

I was reading your site at work today and I tried to read some of your shared articles on the google reader. Interestingly enough, when I tried to read the article about the Air Force banning sites, I found out that Boing Boing is one fo the banned sites. I had to wait until I got home to read most of your articles.
